DATE ANNOUNCED FOR SOUTH WEST GROWERS SHOWThe organisers of one of the UKs top commercial horticultural exhibitions have announced the show date for 2010.
The South West Growers Show one of the leading trade shows for commercial horticulture will take place on Wednesday 6th October 2010 at The Matford Centre in Exeter, Devon.
Aimed at growers and plant buyers ranging from garden centres and retail outlets to local authorities and the landscaping industry - the show brings together key growers and suppliers of specialist horticultural equipment and services.
The show has acquired a new management committee which has recently purchased the exhibition from its previous owners, The Haymarket Media Group.
Mark Taylor, Chairman of the show explained : The South West Growers Show is now entering a new phase in its long history. Our aim as a team of professional growers and industry experts - is to raise awareness of the event by positioning it as a major attraction for a wide variety of visitors from all sectors of the horticultural industry.
As part of its commitment to encourage a wider range of exhibitors particularly smaller growers and specialist producers who often cant afford to attend expensive industry shows - the organisers are offering the opportunity to purchase a 2m x 2m stand space at a reduced cost of £150. Stand space at exhibitions of the calibre of the South West Growers Show are usually priced between £50-£60 per sq m; the price of £37.50 per sq m offers exhibitors a substantial saving.
With an impressive total of more than 80 exhibitors at last years show, the 2009 event looks set for its best year yet. With more than 50 per cent of exhibitors declaring that the show is the only horticultural event they need to attend during the year, the organisers are hoping for a record number of both exhibitors and visitors.
The events committee comprises of Chairman Mark Taylor, business development manager of Cornwall-based young plant producer Kernock Park Plants; Adam Powell from family-run nursery Talaton Plants; Andrew Butler from The National Farmers Union; Andrew Spilsbury from award winning Whetman Pinks, the UKs main grower of perfumed pinks since 1936; David Jackson from Jackson & Son, East Devons plug and pot plant specialist; Les Lane, XL Horticulture and Murray Richards of St Bridgets Nursery and Garden Centre.
Mark concluded : The South West Growers Show has established itself as the foremost event in the south west for the commercial horticultural industry. For the visitor, it provides the ideal venue to meet key growers and horticultural suppliers as well as sourcing the latest plant introductions and products; for the exhibitor it offers a unique business-to-business environment which results in more than 90 per cent of attendees purchasing or placing orders.
